How to get the most rainbows with your suncatcher:
- Choose a window where you'd like to place your suncatcher that gets direct sunlight, preferably an East, South, or West facing window. You can check the cardinal directions of your windows using the compass app on your phone. East facing windows get more sunlight in the mornings, West facing windows get more sunlight in the evenings, and South facing windows potentially could get sunlight all day. I recommend watching your windows periodically throughout the day before committing to a window to choose the best location for your suncatcher.
- You do need direct sunlight for your suncatcher to work, but you don't necessarily have to choose the sunniest window because the rainbows show up best on shaded areas. You can get some really nice rainbows by closing the curtains a bit to give some shaded surfaces for the rainbows to bounce off from but leaving your suncatcher exposed to catch the sunlight.
- Place your suncatcher higher up on a window if you want rainbows to reach things a bit higher up, like tables. Place your suncatcher lower on windows if you want your rainbows to bounce off of the floors. You can test approximately where the rainbows will reach by holding the suncatcher up with the back liner removed before placing onto the window. Be extra careful not to drop it though! It's technically a large sticker so if it hits the floor, there is no way to properly clean it.
- Remember that the weather, time of year, and season all play a role when trying to get the best rainbows.
- Your suncatcher window decal will never stop working, but depending on the time of year, the sun placement could change. The rainbows will come back!
How to apply your suncatcher to a window:
- Clean the area of the window where you'd like to place the suncatcher window decal to make sure there is no dirt or dust.
- Wet the window where you'd like to place the decal using a paper towel, microfiber towel, or spray bottle.
- Peel your decal from the liner and place it adhesive side onto the wet window. It will seem like it is floating. This will help you slide the decal to the exact location you'd like it to be.
- Once you have placed it where you want it, gently squeegee out the excess water and air bubbles, making the decal stick to the window. The adhesive may take on a milky cast from the water, but this will go away once the water has dried. This could take up to 3 days!
- Dry your window with a paper towel or microfiber cloth.
- Enjoy your rainbows!
- Note: Suncatcher window decals are removeable but not guaranteed to be reusable. Choose your decal placement wisely!
